Before the Storm: Preparing for the Next Response

Disaster response begins long before the first chainsaw starts cutting.

On Thursday, October 8, 2026, PAR volunteers gathered for a prep night to get equipment ready prior to Hurricane Isaias's landfall.

We're grateful to everyone who came to sharpen chainsaws, organize trailers, and service generators so everything would be ready if needed.

These preparation moments may not be the dramatic part of disaster response.

There are no downed trees to clear off someone's home, no debris to remove from a yard, no roofs to patch to keep rain from pouring inside.

But this work is just as valuable. It prepares our teams to respond more quickly when calls for help come in.

This is where the work begins. It's what keeps PAR ready to show up.
