Our History
PAR was born after one of Alabama's darkest days. On April 27, 2011, a historic wave of tornadoes swept across the state.
In the aftermath, churches, businesses, organizations, and individuals across North Alabama came together to help their neighbors recover.
What began as a grassroots effort grew into a coordinated disaster response organization known as PAR—Prepare and Respond.
Later that year, PAR hosted a golf tournament, raising nearly $127,000 for disaster relief. Those funds made it possible to purchase the disaster relief trailers that remain an important part of PAR's response capabilities.
Today, PAR continues to bring people together, mobilize resources, and provide trusted help when communities need it most—across North Alabama, throughout the Southeast, and beyond.

PAR Family
Our volunteers are the heart of PAR. They come from churches, faith-based organizations, businesses, and our community—people who are ready to serve when disaster strikes.
As a 100% volunteer-based organization, we rely on people who give their time, skills, and energy to help families and communities recover. If you'd like to be part of the PAR family, we'd love to have you join us.
