Lending a Hand After Storms in Lacey's Spring

When storms bring down a large tree, the damage is more than a mess in the yard. For the person living nearby, it means deciding how to handle the problem.

Tuesday morning, August 25, 2026, PAR volunteers worked in Lacey’s Spring, Alabama, to cut up and remove a large shagbark hickory tree that had fallen beside a mobile home during recent storms.

It was heavy work, but it was also an opportunity to help a neighbor facing an unexpected challenge.

That’s what PAR is about.

Because we're made up of local volunteers, we can show up for our neighbors when disasters leave them with more work than they can manage on their own.

Sometimes that means removing a dangerous tree. Other times, it means tarping a damaged roof or clearing debris so a family can begin putting things back together.

Behind every downed tree is a person who needs a little help. We’re grateful for our volunteers who give their time and energy to make that help possible, one neighbor at a time.
